Hello downtown Boulder!
If you have a sweet tooth that you simply can’t ignore, you’re in the right place. I stand by the fact that it’s never too cold for ice cream, and downtown Boulder has some of the best spots to satisfy every kind of craving. Whether you’re in the mood for creamy gelato, a warm cookie, or a little nostalgic candy moment, downtown has a variety of amazing dessert places to choose from.
My go-to recommendation for people is Gelato Boy. They have two locations downtown and are a must visit for any dessert lover, especially if you want something indulgent and satisfying, yet still light. Their creamy gelato and variety of flavors always transport me back to Italy, enjoying amazing gelato on the gorgeous streets of Rome. Another cool thing is that their seasonal flavors rotate often, and they do an amazing job with dairy-free options that honestly taste just as creamy as the real thing. Right now, some of their seasonal flavors include dairy-free coconut truffle and amaretto cherry chip, but my all time favorite will always be the cookie jar flavor. It’s the perfect mix of chocolate and vanilla with some chunks of cookie that are the perfect little surprise.
If you are more into a quick snack grab, the Snack Spot is the place to go. They have an amazing selection of cookies on their menu, but my personal favorite is the triple chocolate. It’s rich, warm, and impossible to share.You also can never go wrong with their classic house chocolate chip. Beyond cookies, Snack Spot is known for their warm, soft pretzels and popcorn, as well as their fun dirty soda combinations. My go-to order? A coke with cherry flavor and whipped cream, simple, yet seriously addictive.
Lastly, another super fun place to walk into is Rocket Fizz. It feels like stepping straight into a childhood fantasy with shelves packed wall-to-wall with every kind of candy you can imagine. From classic favorites, to quirky, over-the-top sweets you’ve probably never even seen before, there is something for everyone and the vintage feel of the place is what really sets it apart from other sweet shops. A visit to Rocket Fizz isn’t just about satisfying your sweet tooth — it’s an experience. From nostalgic candy to playful sodas, the shop instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time in the best way.
And if you’re celebrating something special or simply craving a little treat, downtown Boulder has no shortage of dessert spots worth stopping for.
