Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives
Who We Are
The Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI) (Formally known as the Downtown Boulder Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created in 2017. The organization's mission is to engage visitors and locals alike through arts, culture, innovation and inclusive, community-driven experiences in downtown Boulder.
Our vision is a downtown Boulder that is:
- A place that welcomes and is accessible to all;
- A canvas to celebrate the creativity and unique essence of Boulder;
- A vibrant hub of economic activity and innovation; and
- Part of the larger Boulder community, seeking to partner in civic solutions for the greater good.
The Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives areas of focus include cultural experiences, community connection and the future of our downtown.
Community Advisory Board
DBCI has assembled a cohort of community members who will collectively advise and collaborate on programs and policies that support and enhance stronger connections to, participation in, and pride for downtown Boulder among residents. The 11-member Community Advisory Board will serve a one-year term, beginning in January of 2021.
The Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives produces 11 signature community events: Taste of Pearl, Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival, Bands on the Bricks, Pearl Street Arts Fest, Boulder Craft Beer Festival, Fall Fest, Munchkin Masquerade, and Light up the Holidays which includes Switch on the Holidays, St. Nick on the Bricks, Lights of December Parade and Freezie Fest.
All of our events seek to provide visitors and locals alike with cultural experiences and community connection.
The Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives is a proud supporter of local art as part of an ongoing commitment to enhance the downtown district landscape and provide enriching cultural experiences for locals and visitors alike.
In 2020, DBCI facilitated the donation of Bear Hugs on the Pearl Street Mall to the City of Boulder. DBCI's Boulder Alley Gallery initiative re-purposes alley and back-of-building doors into works of art featuring the talents of local artists.
