Holiday Self Care

Category: Boulder Blog

Good Day Downtown Boulder!

I hope you're ready to stuff your vampire capes back in the Halloween box, because like clockwork November 1st has quietly crept up on us. Along with it come garlands, peppermints and twinkling lights! You've probably begun to notice the holiday decor going up around downtown. There is much to celebrate this season with Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and more. Here at the Downtown Boulder Partnership we are working away like a team of cheerful elves to spread holiday magic to everyone.

Whether or not the first snow has graced the Flatirons, it’s officially my favorite time of year. I get to spend time with friends and family over a long winter break (which is well deserved, I would argue). The holidays always seem to pass me right before my eyes, so with that being said, pull out your coziest pair of socks, grab a warm drink, and take a stroll because the holidays are calling.  Holiday events kick off on Sunday, November 23 when we Switch on the Holidays downtown (with a FREE cookie Crawl earlier in the day). These events are followed by Small Business Saturday, St. Nick on the Bricks and the Lights of December Parade.  So much to do in such little time!

Personally, my favorite way to start the holiday season is to treat myself to a signature hot chocolate from Piece, Love & Chocolate. This isn’t your typical hot cocoa either. It’s a thick European-style chocolate drink with flavors that include original 85% Dark, Maya Spice, Salted Caramel, Raspberry, Blood Orange, Honey Lavender. In honor of my favorite artist Devonte Hynes (AKA Blood Orange), I will be requesting Blood Orange as my flavor every time, while listening to his best songs.

Another way I like to unwind during the busy holiday season is carving out time for myself. One way I enjoy doing this is going out and listening to live music. Good thing Jungle has free, live jazz music every Wednesday from 7 - 9 PM and a late night happy hour from 9 - 11 PM. If you are looking to unwind at home, I strongly recommend checking out Lush’s amazing face masks. They also have some fun holiday products like their unique advent calendars which are a great gift for others… or yourself.

Into the wind guide guide

Closer to the holidays, I’ll send out a gift guide for everyone on your Nice List. Don’t forget to check out our Foodie Friday newsletter to have first hand gossip on who’s catering for Thanksgiving. Whether you need a whole turkey or a pie that you can pass off as your own, Downtown Boulder has got it. You'll also hear more from me soon about Switch on the Holidays, Cookie Crawl, and our Downtown Dash. Downtown is gearing up for another season of sparkle!

Until next time,
