Trees decorated with holiday lights in Downtown Boulder

Post Date: December 19, 2022

Hey Downtown,

We’ve nearly made it through another year, and that deserves some celebration! Hopefully, these past 12 months have been filled with more happiness, adventuring, delicious food and fond memories to make up for the past few prior. As the world begins to return to a new normal, it’s important to maintain self-care practices and find joy in the little moments. If we learned anything since 2020, it’s that prioritizing mental health matters tremendously. Take care of yourself and one another as we raise a glass to this new chapter of 2023!

If you’re looking to ring in the new year in style, head to the St Julien Hotel & Spa to dance the night away with Colorado’s premier funk band, Funkiphino. Tickets include an open bar and passed apps from 9 pm - 11 pm, as well as a dessert station, balloon drop and champagne toast for $175/person. Proper funk attire is encouraged! Feeling more of a disco vibe? Reserve tickets for License No. 1’s New Year’s Eve party! Dress to impress and celebrate with live music from Von Disco, a champagne toast and late night bites for $25/person.

More fun can be found at Avanti Boulder during their annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Join in the festivities from 9 pm - 1:30 am and enjoy a DJ, dance floor, specialty cocktails and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. And the best part? No cover required to enter! Move from one rooftop to the next as you head to Rosetta Hall, where you can also party to a live DJ and raise a glass when the clock strikes midnight.

Ready to rock out? Check out the band Lotus, performing at the Boulder Theater on NYE! This five-piece group were early adopters of fusing electronic beats with jam music, but also drew on psych-rock, post-rock, disco, funk and jazz. Their dance-inducing, high energy shows make for a perfect start to the new year. Grab tickets today!

If you’d rather start the new year over warm plates than on a dance floor, check out a variety of specials and events at Big Red F restaurants. Fuel up for NYE with The Post Chicken & Beer. Bring the party to your place with their Big Love Party Pack, complete with 50 pieces of fried chicken. Want to celebrate by dining in? Indulge in a specialty four-course meal at Centro Mexican Kitchen featuring roasted corn bisque, butter poached lobster, Bananas Foster and more decadent dishes. And join the West End Tavern on January 1 for a pajama party with a “hangover cure Bloody Mary” paired with chicken and waffles.

No matter how you plan on celebrating the start of 2023, there are plenty of ways to ring in the new year downtown. My personal resolution for this upcoming year is to be a bit kinder to myself, which means this NYE I will be treating myself to honey lattes at Süti & Co, a meal out at Japango or My Neighbor Felix and some new shoes from Pedestrian Shops. I offer up this same resolution to all of you - the world needs kind people, and it starts by being kind to ourselves.

From all of us at the Downtown Boulder Partnership, Happy New Year! 2023 - we are ready for you.
