Details
Learn to transform your personal experiences into narratives with universal themes. Through discussions, exercises, and readings, we’ll delve into truth, memory, first-person narration, the balance between showing vs. telling, and finding deeper meaning in your stories. This fall we will focus on completing scenes with the goal of having a finished essay after the 8-week workshop.
All group discussions promote the goal of building a community of writers offering support, feedback, and encouragement in a safe space. Sessions customized to the specific needs and interests of the group.
Open to all adults anywhere in their writing journey.
8 Weeks: October 2 – November 20

Instructor: Brenda Kahn
Brenda Kahn is a Boulder-based artist, celebrated for her poignant, lyric-driven music that blends personal narratives with broader social commentaries. She gained acclaim in the ’90s with her punk-folk music, leading to a deal with Columbia Records and praise for her album “Epiphany in Brooklyn.” She’s toured with musical greats Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley and authored “Ode to Chores,” a humorous take on motherhood in verse. Her 2024 single “Alright OK” is available on YouTube and Spotify. Kahn’s memoir, set to explore the transformative power of music and writing against the backdrop of the East Village music scene in the ’90s, is forthcoming.
