Join Cantabile for "You belong," a welcoming choral concert exploring our shared need for comfort, safety, home, and community.
Cantabile opens its 38th season with "You belong," a concert celebrating the relationships and communities that give us a sense of home. Through music by Stephen Paulus, Mari Esabel Valverde, Johannes Brahms, and two newly commissioned works by composers with local connections, the program invites us to welcome one another across the differences that shape our lives.
Artistic director Brian Stone brings together music spanning centuries, from Stephen Paulus's beloved "The Road Home" and Brahms's "Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen" ("How lovely are your dwelling places") from Ein deutsches Requiem to Mari Esabel Valverde's contemporary "Comfort and Joy." The program also features Leah Porter Tracy's "Dear Country" and Andrew Halladay's "All Things Have Their Being," which draws from the writings of medieval mystic Julian of Norwich.
This concert embraces us all.
