For the second year, The New Local is hosting El Centro Amistad for an exhilarating Día de Muertos Procession through the streets of Downtown Boulder. Witness the artful procession starting from The New Local’s Annex at 713 Pearl Street to the Courthouse lawn at 1325 Pearl St. where a community altar will be constructed. Marvel at colorful eye-catching Catrinas, enjoy live mariachi music and an abundance of vibrancy. Mayor Aaron Brockett will be in attendance, and Visit Boulder: the Convention and Visitors Bureau will have a photo van parked near The New Local’s Gallery (741 Pearl St.) so participants can take advantage of plenty of photo-ops. Folks are encouraged to gather at The New Local’s Annex at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2, and the procession will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Experience the unique beauty of this rich tradition that honors loved ones who have passed on.
