Treasure of Sound – A Musical Pirate Adventure with the Orchestra!
Ahoy, mateys! Set sail on an unforgettable musical adventure with the Boulder Symphony as we search for the legendary Treasure of Sound!

Two notorious pirates – the powerful Queen Ezzy and her bumbling nemesis Neckbeard the Pungent – have arrived at the orchestra, each armed with a treasure map and determined to find the prize first. Along with our fearless Conductor-Captain (who becomes more pirate-like by the minute!), the pirates and audience embark on a thrilling quest through the symphony, following musical clues that reveal where the Treasure of Sound can be found.

This interactive concert is packed with swashbuckling fun, audience participation, and live orchestral favorites by Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Saint-Saëns, and more! Kids will learn about the orchestra's instrument families while helping the pirates solve riddles and battle it out—only to discover that the real treasure is something we all create together: the music!

Perfect for students, families, and adventurers of all ages. Costumes, pirate voices, and sea shanty singing are encouraged!

The program is 45 minutes long, and there will be an instrument petting zoo provided by HB Woodsongs for 30 minutes before and after the concert for kids to try some instruments.

About Boulder Symphony & Music Academy Curiosity Concerts

Our Curiosity Concerts create an interactive and educational experience that will inspire and entertain young and old alike. These original programs use trivia, humorous characters, and enriching stories to engage, entertain, and educate the audience throughout the performance. Not to mention the awesome power of live symphonic music to illuminate our message. At the end of these concerts, some participants might get the opportunity to conduct the Boulder Symphony!

Curiosity Concerts are engaging, entertaining, and educational from beginning to end and are perfect for kids, families, and music lovers of all ages. We strive to ignite the spark of curiosity in every inner child that comes to our concerts. And costumes are encouraged!

Accessibility seating available on the main level of Grace Commons.
