Join us for the opening reception of Heritage in Motion, returning for its third series as a living archive of Nepali identity - one that moves, adapts, and evolves across geographies.
Rooted in the Himalayan traditions of Nepal and carried into the landscapes of Colorado, this exhibition explores how culture is continually reshaped through migration, memory, and everyday practice. Building on earlier presentations at the Aurora History Museum and Denver International Airport, this third series places a deeper emphasis on intergenerational storytelling and the quiet resilience of diaspora life.
Through artifacts, textiles, ritual objects, photographs, artworks, and personal narratives, Heritage in Motion invites visitors to consider how traditions are preserved, reinterpreted, and passed on - often in new and unexpected forms. At the heart of the exhibition are questions of belonging: What does it mean to call more than one place home? How do we carry forward who we are while embracing where we are?
The exhibition highlights community voices and the lived experiences of Nepali families in Colorado, where heritage is practiced not only through ceremonies and festivals, but also in kitchens, conversations, relationships, and everyday acts of care. Together, these stories celebrate both continuity and change, our roots and our routes, and the enduring spirit of a culture in motion.

Welcome remarks from the Museum of Boulder and the Colorado Nepalese Community
An introduction to the exhibition and its third series
Recognition of participating artists, lenders, partners, sponsors, and volunteers
A brief artist talk with Yuvak Tuladhar, Nepali painter, printmaker, and multidisciplinary artist based in San Francisco
A traditional Nepali cultural performance by Yureeka Rai, Nepali dancer based in Aurora, Colorado
A guided tour of the exhibition
Closing remarks and acknowledgments
Nepali-style mocktails and traditional Nepali appetizers
The evening’s program will be presented and guided by Binisha Shrestha, curator of Heritage in Motion.
Artists and Community Contributors:
The exhibition features work by Ang Tsherin Sherpa, Erina Tamrakar, Asha Dangol, Subhash Awale, Yuvak Tuladhar, Paramesh Adhikari, Shraya Rajbhandari, Sajal Siwakoti, Sunila Bajracharya, and Kabi Raj Lama.
Special recognition will be given to the exhibition’s lenders: Karma Bhotia, Shanti Shrestha, Shyam Shrestha, Neeraj P. Gorkhaly, Binisha Shrestha, Sabisha Shrestha, Megha Shrestha, Saraswoti Shrestha, Bekha Krishna Shrestha, the Family of Gopal Yonjan, Prashant Shrestha, and Suresh Pradhan.
