Ars Nova Singers presents the internationally acclaimed ensemble VOCES8, performing two unique programs in Boulder and Denver.

Britain’s Grammy-nominated VOCES8 is proud to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing. As the world’s top-streaming classical vocal group, they perform an extensive repertory in their own a cappella concerts and their collaborations with leading musicians, orchestras, conductors, and soloists. Versatility and celebrations of diverse musical expression are central to the ensemble’s artistic and educational ethos, both online and in person.

We’re thrilled to welcome VOCES8 back to Boulder and Denver. Here’s a brief description of each program – come to both if you can!

Friday, October 17 (Boulder) – Lead Me Home
Lead Me Home is a celebration of the American choral landscape, showcasing VOCES8’s versatility. It presents a wide array of American choral styles, from traditional hymns and folk songs to contemporary compositions. Works by Virgil Thomson, Samuel Barber, William Billings, and Morten Lauridsen share the program with works by Caroline Shaw, Bobby McFerrin, Stephen Paulus, Eric Whitacre, and more.

Saturday, October 18 (Denver) – Give Me Your Stars
Give Me Your Stars explores the profound and diverse beauty of music inspired by the heavens, human connection, and the places we call home. At its heart is Lucy Walker’s eponymous new work, written for VOCES8, which captures the delicate balance between celestial wonder and the deep, personal connections that make us human.

The program spans centuries of choral music, from the luminous polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Regina Caeli to timeless jazz standards. Along the way, we encounter the reflective sentiments of Eric Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful to Me and Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas, folk traditions in Danny Boy and Michael McGlynn’s Dúlamán, and evocative tales of cities and starlight in April in Paris and New York, New York.
