For generations of Boulder music lovers, Albums on the Hill was more than a record store. Tucked just across the street from the University of Colorado campus, the beloved shop became a gathering place where people discovered new music, debated favorite albums and spent hours flipping through vinyl bins.

In this Talk of Our Town conversation, Nick Forster sits down with longtime owner Andy Schneidkraut, who ran the store for 35 years and helped make it one of Boulder’s most cherished music institutions. From record release parties to championing local artists, Andy built a community around a shared love of music.

Together they reflect on the store’s remarkable history, the changing landscape of the music business and the unlikely resurgence of vinyl in the streaming era. At its heart, the conversation explores why physical music still matters and how places like Albums on the Hill helped create lasting connections between people, artists and the records that shaped their lives.

As part of Record Store Week nationwide, we are very pleased to connect with Andy and explore the legacy of one of Boulder’s best record stores.

eTown's The Talk of Our Town series invites notable guests to dive deep into the people, culture, and stories that have made Boulder the city it is today.
