Join us for the opening reception of a new exhibition at the Museum of Boulder in partnership with Historic Boulder!

You probably know Valmont Road - but how much do you know about the community that gave it its name? Just four miles east of Boulder, the Valmont area holds a remarkable history that has largely disappeared from view.

Valmont: Hidden in Plain Sight uncovers the story of the once-thriving Town of Valmont, which rivaled Boulder in the 1860s but today has nearly vanished from the landscape. Explore the geology and history of Valmont Butte, discover the industries that shaped the area and left environmental challenges that continue today, and learn about the historic structures and places that remain, and why they are worth preserving.

Come celebrate the exhibition, meet others interested in this fascinating piece of local history, and discover a side of Boulder County that has been hiding in plain sight.
