Downtown Boulder Invites the Community to Sing Together for World Singing Day on Saturday, October 17
11th Annual Boulder Celebration Welcomes All Ages and Singing Abilities to the Pearl Street Mall
Boulder, CO [October 6, 2026] – Residents and visitors are invited to fill the Pearl Street Mall with song at the 11th Annual World Singing Day Boulder on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Taking place from 2:00 to 3:30 pm on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall, the free community sing-along offers an afternoon of familiar music and a chance to connect with the people around us.
Attendees will sing along to original recordings of popular songs, with favorites ranging from the Beatles to Taylor Swift. Free lyric booklets will be provided thanks to the generosity of local sponsors so everyone can join in. No rehearsals or preparation are necessary, and participants do not need any singing experience. Whether coming with friends or arriving on their own, everyone is welcome to add their voice.
“We live surrounded by people but disconnected from one another,” said World Singing Day founder Scott Johnson. “We can communicate with thousands of people online and still feel completely alone. World Singing Day creates an opportunity to put down our phones, stand next to other people, and just sing together. It’s a very simple—and very joyful—experience.”
Founded in 2012 by Johnson, World Singing Day has grown into an annual celebration reaching communities around the globe. This year, more than 170 communities in at least 44 countries are expected to participate on October 17. Boulder’s gathering brings that worldwide celebration back to its hometown, giving neighbors and visitors an opportunity to share in the joy of making music together.
The 2026 World Singing Day Song-of-the-Year, “Room For Everyone,” carries a message of belonging that reflects the spirit of the event. Through a shared afternoon of singing, participants are invited to find common ground and experience the connection that can come from something as simple as joining in a familiar chorus.
“Music has an extraordinary ability to remind us that we're not alone,” Johnson said. “When we're all singing the same song, we're not strangers anymore. We're friends. We’re a community.”
World Singing Day Boulder is free to attend and made possible by the generous support of Eldorado Natural Spring Water, Daily Camera, the City of Boulder and Lifetime Home Remodeling. Parking is free in all City of Boulder garages on Saturdays and Sundays year round. Event details can be found at WorldSingingDayBoulder.com.
