Bettina Swigger leaves role to pursue writing career;
Visionary CEO and City Leader Tami Door will serve as Interim CEO

BOULDER, CO  - [November 13, 2025]  – The Downtown Boulder Partnership (DBP), along with its sister organizations, Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District (BID) and Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI), announces that Tami Door will serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective Tuesday, December 1, 2025. Door will lead the organization through Q2 2026 as current CEO Bettina Swigger steps down on December 8, 2025 for a personal sabbatical and to focus on her writing career.

"While I had hoped for a longer tenure here, changes in my personal circumstances have led me to recognize that now is the right moment to pause, recharge, and invest in my personal growth and creativity. It’s been an incredible honor to serve this organization and this community for the past two years,” said Swigger.  “The team at DBP is strong, and downtown Boulder's future is bright.“ During Swigger’s tenure as CEO, she advocated to elevate the role of economic development in the City, streamlined the multi-board governance structure, balanced the budgets, guided a move into an expanded, central office space, and played a supporting role in bringing the Sundance Film Festival to Boulder.

"We are grateful to Bettina for her meaningful impact here in Boulder,” said Aaron Spear, Downtown Boulder Partnership Board Chair. “We are fortunate to have a leader of Tami's caliber to guide us during this transition. Her experience and steady leadership will ensure continuity for our staff, members, and community partners as we advance important work on behalf of downtown Boulder."

Door brings extensive experience in downtown management, business leadership, and municipal collaboration to the interim role. In addition to serving as the CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership for 16 years, she served as Chair of the International Downtown Association and has consulted for cities, chambers of commerce and downtown organizations across the country. During her tenure as interim, she will focus on maintaining organizational momentum, advancing critical initiatives, including the effort to create a Downtown Development Authority, and planning for the Pearl Street Mall's 50th Anniversary celebration in 2027. She will also work with community partners to support the successful integration of the Sundance International Film Festival into Boulder. During the interim period, Door will also support the boards in their search for a permanent CEO to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Door will work closely with the talented DBP Senior Leadership team, including Vice Presidents of Finance, Sue Hempstead; Marketing and Communications Terri Takata-Smith; and Operations and Programs Anna Salim, to maintain the high level of service, communications, and programming that downtown Boulder stakeholders have come to expect.

"There is so much to be excited about in Boulder right now,” said Door. “I love this community and I’m honored and pleased to lead DBP in this transformational time, building on the strong foundation that has been in place for more than two decades and that Bettina and the team have nurtured carefully the past few years, while positioning us well for the next permanent CEO."
