Downtown Boulder’s Beloved Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival Returns to the Pearl Street Mall Sunday, April 27, 2025 (Rain Date: May 4th, 2025)
Join downtown’s own Tulip Fairy in the springtime tradition of “waking up the tulips” while enjoying live music performances, free family-friendly activities and more.
Boulder, CO [April 16, 2025]- Downtown Boulder’s annual Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival happens Sunday, April 27 from 1 PM - 5 PM on the Pearl Street Mall. This free, family-friendly festival hosts an array of live music performances, free children’s activities and vendors along each block of the Pearl Street Mall. In case of inclement weather, this festival’s rain date is Sunday, May 4th.
The performance stage is located on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall where PBS award-winning children’s musician, Farmer Dave & Friends take the stage at 1 PM followed by a host of family-friendly performers including local favorites, Jeff & Paige. Intermittently, downtown’s own Tulip Fairy will lead short parades around the tulip beds that adorn the mall. The complete event schedule is as follows:
- 1:00 - 1:45 PM Performance from Farmer Dave from Farmer Dave & Friends
- 1:45 - 2:00 PM Tulip Fairy Parade with the Tulip Fairy Queen
- 2:00 - 2:45 PM Enjoy singing along to some favorites with Performance High
- 2:45 - 3:00 PM Tulip Fairy Parade with the Tulip Fairy Queen
- 3:00 - 3:45 PM Performance by singer songwriter Jenn Cleary
- 3:45 - 4:00 PM Tulip Fairy Parade with the Tulip Fairy Queen
- 4:00 - 5:00 PM Waking the Bear, with Jeff & Paige
Free children’s activities include a teddy bear check-up doctor’s visit by presenting sponsors, Kaiser Permanente, fairy wand-making with local non-profit, The New Local, meet and greets with a mermaid from Ocean First and more. For a fee, face painting vendors will be stationed throughout the event, as well as fairy hair tinsel and feathers from Tinsel-n-Things.

Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival is produced by Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI). The event is presented by Kaiser Permanente and supported by City of Boulder Parks & Recreation, City of Boulder, Lifetime Home Remodeling, Daily Camera and Eldorado Natural Spring Water.

"It officially kicks off the spring season when downtown comes to life thanks to thousands of tulips on full display on the Pearl Street Mall, along with hundreds of fairies and elves who bring joy and happiness to all in attendance."
Each fall the City of Boulder Parks and Rec Department imports, plants and maintains 15,000 tulip bulbs from Holland in a long standing tradition that was originally known as Boulder In Bloom.
