Pearl Street Stampedes Bring CU Spirit Downtown the Evening Before Each Home Football Game

Beginning September 1, Pearl Street Stampedes return to the Mall for a celebration of Boulder’s hometown football team prior to games at Folsom Field.

Boulder, CO [August 25, 2022] –  Returning September 1, 2022, the Pearl Street Stampedes have become the kickoff celebration for CU home football games for over a decade. The night before each home game, join hundreds of Buffs fans as they line the Pearl Street Mall while members of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band play and cheerleaders infuse school spirit into the audience. Members of the CU football team and coaching staff are there to meet fans before taking the field at Folsom the following day.

Led by Stephen Tebo’s vintage 1948 fire truck, members of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band start performing at 7 pm on the 1300 block of Pearl Street (in front of the Boulder County Courthouse). The Stampedes move west, stopping on each block of the Pearl Street Mall to perform. This event is free and fun for the whole family! The Stampede was the brainchild of former CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn and is a joint collaboration between the University of Colorado, local businesses and the Downtown Boulder Partnership.

2022 Stampedes Dates: Thursday, September 1 (TCU), Friday, September 23 (UCLA), Friday, October 14 (California - Family Weekend), Friday, October 28 (Arizona State - Homecoming Weekend) and Friday, November 4 (Oregon).

Pearl Street Stampedes are sponsored by Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, Pasta Jay’s, Elevations Credit Union, Where the Buffalo Roam, Hotel Boulderado and Avanti F & B. The Stampedes are a collaboration between the University of Colorado, local businesses, the City of Boulder and Downtown Boulder.
