Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival Postponed until Sunday, May 1, 2022 - Spring Arrives with the Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival in Downtown Boulder

Celebrate spring and tulips Sunday, May 1st on Pearl Street with the Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival

Boulder, CO [April 22, 2022] – Due to the weather forecast, the beloved event has been postponed one week until Sunday, May 1, 2022. All performances and activities will take place as planned below!

Nothing signifies the start of spring more than the blossoming of over 15,000 colorful tulips on the Pearl Street Mall. Join Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI) for their annual springtime event - The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival - to celebrate the beginning of the spring season and the beautiful flowers that accompany it.

This year’s Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Enjoy parades with the Tulip Fairy and pint-sized fairies and elves, live performances, free crafts/activities sponsored by local companies/organizations and more. Head to the Pearl Street Mall from 1 - 5 pm to partake in all the festivities that will be taking place on the 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks with the live performance stage in front of the Boulder County Courthouse.

The live performance schedule is as follows:

1:00 - 1:45 pm Jumpin' Jazz Kids
2:00 - 2:45 pm 5280 Theater Company
3:00 - 3:45 pm Singer/songwriter, Julia Kirkwood
4:00 - 5:00 pm Waking the Bear, with Jeff & Paige

Additionally, community organizations and businesses have developed fun and interactive activities for children on the Pearl Street Mall. Kids can try their hand at foam sword dueling, tap into their creative side with clay pottery, learn more about wildlife safety and so much more!

The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival celebrates the gorgeous tulips that are planted each year along the Pearl Street Mall. The tradition started in the late 1970s, when Boulder’s then sister city, Meppel, Holland, would send 5,000 tulip bulbs annually to be planted along the Mall. A form of this tradition continues to this day when every fall the City of Boulder’s Parks Department plants 15,000 brand new tulip bulbs that are imported directly from Holland.

The Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival is a free event and costumes are encouraged. The public can learn more at TulipFairyFestival.com.

The Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival is produced by Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives and presented by Premier Members Credit Union. The event is sponsored by the City of Boulder, Daily Camera, Eldorado Natural Spring Water, City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks and Shining Mountain Waldorf School.
