East End Community Chair Project 

Explore Pearl Street’s East End and discover five pairs of unique Adirondack-style chairs, each painted by local artists. The original artwork on these chairs beautifully captures the themes of growth, transformation and renewal - illustrating the theme of plants and animal life cycles.

Public voting for your favorite pair of chairs is now closed. Congratulations to our winners Simone White, Melanie Damore, and Kate Fitzpatrick. Thank you to all of the artists who contributed beautiful, lasting artwork to our downtown for all to enjoy!

Artwork Title: A Beautiful Cycle. The concept of the life cycle in this piece is portrayed as a journey from life to death, with all the moments in between representing what we do with the time we are given. Juls (Julio) Mendoza is an artist based in Denver, CO who has contributed a a great deal to the Boulder art scene already with murals around town.

This pair of chairs represents the complete life cycle, with the flowing colors between them symbolizing the earth—the foundation from which new life springs, only to return again. Based out of Fort Collins, CO, Ryan Sauter is inspired by nature and enjoys reinterpreting nature's beauty in his artwork through bold colors and unique elements.

Artwork Title: Elements Entwined. These chairs were designed to capture the vibrant wildlife of Colorado and its interaction with the shifting seasons to depict the overall theme of transformation. Melanie Damore moved to Colorado to explore the mountains. She paints colorful and dreamy renditions of mountain landscapes, capturing the imperfections and beauty of nature.

Artwork Title: Metamorphosis. These chairs embrace a playful perspective on one of the most common depictions -- the stages of a butterfly's Metamorphosis, from the ground up! Simone White is a local artist based out of Fort Collins, CO. Her art is bright and colorful, often utilizing repetition to create movement and black outlines to create structure.
