The 2026 election is an important one for Boulder, with decisions that will help shape the future of our community and local economy.
While the Downtown Boulder Partnership does not endorse candidates for elected office, we believe it is important for our business community to understand where candidates stand on issues that impact downtown. All mayoral and City Council candidates were invited to participate in the Downtown Boulder & University Hill Candidate Roundtable on September 23 and were also invited to respond to three questions focused specifically on issues important to our business communities. Their responses have been compiled and are shared in a single PDF to provide an additional resource for voters.
In addition to the candidate races, voters will consider several ballot measures this November. The DBP Public Policy Committee reviewed and discussed measures with particular relevance to downtown businesses, property owners and Boulder’s economic vitality. Following those discussions and consideration by the DBP Board of Directors, the Board took the following two positions:
- Following review and discussion by the Downtown Boulder Partnership Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors, DBP has voted to support the Front Range Passenger Rail District ballot measure. This position reflects DBP’s commitment to advocating on issues that impact downtown Boulder’s economic vitality, accessibility and long-term connectivity.
- Following review and discussion by the Downtown Boulder Partnership Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors, DBP voted to oppose the Building Boulder Together: Recreation and Safety Bond. While DBP recognizes the need to invest in the projects identified in the proposal, the Board has concerns about the additional financial burden on businesses and property owners at this time. DBP believes smaller, more focused bond measures with clearly identified projects would provide greater accountability while addressing the City’s significant facility and infrastructure needs.
