Hello Downtown Boulder!

My name is Ava Esposito, and I’m the new Marketing and Communications Intern for Spring 2026! I’m a senior at CU Boulder, majoring in Communications with a minor in Sociology, and I’ll be graduating this May. I’m originally from Newburgh, New York, in the Hudson Valley, but over the past few years Boulder has truly become my second home. I’m so excited to spend this semester exploring downtown Boulder even more, especially since the area played such a big role in what first drew me to this incredible city.

Growing up on a lake in New York made me a total lake girl and a natural adventurer. Some of my favorite activities have always involved being outdoors, and that hasn’t changed. I grew up waterskiing, wake surfing, tubing, and chasing adrenaline through cliff jumping, hiking, and skiing. CU Boulder was originally more of a “dream school” for me because it’s across the country from home. Still, the moment I visited Boulder, I knew it was where I belonged. I’m incredibly grateful that taking that leap led me to such an amazing experience, with many more to come.

While my love for skiing was a big factor in choosing CU, what truly made me fall in love was the downtown Boulder district as a whole. It felt like exactly what I had been looking for throughout my entire college search. After four years here, I can confidently say that feeling was right. One of my favorite aspects of Boulder is that there are always so many things going on, whether it’s a community event, live music, or pop-up market, people are always just out enjoying the spaces together. From incredible restaurants and local shops as well as events all around, downtown Boulder has a way of making people feel welcome and bringing people together and that connection is something I really admire.

This semester, I am very excited to share more about the people, places, stories, and events that make downtown so special. From local favorites and hidden gems to seasonal happenings and behind the scenes moments. I am so grateful to be a part of a team that celebrates community in such a meaningful way and I can’t wait to dive in, explore, and share with all of you!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to what’s ahead!

Until next week,

Ava
