Hello, outdoor lovers. Looking to be one with nature this spring? Head downtown to get your outdoor essentials! Whether you are staying local or traveling throughout the state, here are some downtown spots that will gear you up for any adventure…
I love the outdoors, and thankfully, many downtown businesses support my obsession with great gear! I always love a shopping trip to Athleta for workout clothes. Plus, it’s fun to support a women-run store. I also like to have high-quality hiking pants, shorts, and socks while exploring the outdoors, and Title Nine sets me up with the cutest nature-like patterns for any activity. PrAna also has excellent hiking and climbing gear; I even wore my PrAna pants hiking my first 14’er in Colorado!
If you plan to visit reservoirs and lakes this spring, check out Billabong for swimsuits and water-day apparel. I have shopped there for years, and their spring/summer clothing is always bright, cute, and stylish. If you are more of an off-road adventurer, look at the wide selection of the mountain bikes at University Bicycles. They have everything you need for a day on the trails, including helpmates, water bottles, and other necessities!
If you are not quite ready for winter to end, you can still get spring skiing gear at Burton and Backcountry. I am a huge fan of Burton's snowboarding gear and Backcountry's various brands and styles for any season!
And for even more ideas, one of my intern predecessors put together this amazing outdoor gear guide webpage with many great downtown business suggestions!
After a long day in the mountains and before a nap, nothing is better than grabbing lunch and a refreshing treat. The scenery, sunshine, and comfortable seating are a great way to end the day outside on Avanti’s rooftop. I highly recommend grabbing a bite from their delicious vendors and taking the best downtown view! If you are more of a sweet lover, Ben & Jerry's has some tasty and refreshing ice cream for dessert just down Pearl Street.
For my fellow students in the midterm season, remember that taking breaks and getting outside is super important. (I would guess this also applies to all those in the working world!) Going out for some downtown retail therapy is one of my favorite ways to de-stress from my studies. Take time, prepare for your favorite outdoor activities, and shop locally downtown this spring!
See you out there,
Katie
