Hello downtown Boulder!
Whether you’re up with the sun or just in need of a little midday rest, there’s something about a good cup of coffee that can completely shift your day. Luckily, downtown Boulder has no shortage of go-to spots, whether you’re looking to ease into a slow morning or find somewhere to lock in and get some work done. Here are a few of my favorite places to start your day, or keep it going.
If you’re someone who loves a calm, productive start to your day, these spots are perfect for settling in, sipping something warm, and getting into the zone.

OZO Coffee is always a reliable go-to that feels so local and comforting. With two locations, in both the East End and West End, they are super close no matter where you are downtown! Their matcha is so good (especially if you like it a little sweeter, they have tons of syrup options), but I’m usually a latte person, and OZO never misses. I almost always go iced over hot, and it’s one of those spots where you know you’re getting a consistently good, personalized drink every time. It’s one of my favorite places to escape to when I need to get away from the distractions of everyday life and be productive. Whether you’re grabbing something quick or staying a while, it’s an easy favorite.
Boxcar Coffee Roasters is another great place that has that slightly elevated, minimalist feel that makes you want to slow down a bit. It’s the kind of place where you can really sit with your coffee, people watch, or just take a second before the day really starts.
There’s also Creature Comforts Café, which honestly blew me away the first time I tried it. I ordered their Salted Honey Latte and I’m still thinking about it. It was SO good, and truly hit the spot. This is one of those places that feels tucked away in the best way, located on the East End downtown, it’s the perfect place to grab something simple, yet consistently delicious.
If you’re in the mood to actually sit down and enjoy a full breakfast, these spots are 100% worth it.

Of course, coffee is never restricted to the mornings, so when that mid afternoon slump hits, sometimes all you need is a change of scenery and a fresh coffee.
Capital One Café is such an underrated option. It’s super spacious, has free Wi-Fi, and is set up perfectly for getting work done or taking meetings. Plus, if you’re a Capital One cardholder, you get 50% off drinks when you use your card, which is honestly such a win. It’s one of those spots you can easily spend a few hours in without even realizing it.
Foolish Craig’s has one of those menus where you genuinely don’t know what to pick because there are so many good options. They’ve got all the breakfast essentials you could ever want; I personally love a good omelet, and they absolutely hit it out of the park. They have even been mentioned more than once on Food Network’s “Diner’s, Drive-In’s, and Dives!” And if you’re not feeling breakfast, they have lunch options as well like soups, sandwiches, salads, burgers, with combo options that make it easy to mix and match.

Maisonette is another great option if you’re looking for something that feels a little more elevated but still approachable. It’s perfect for a slower morning or a more intentional breakfast moment.
Whether you’re starting your day early, taking a break between classes, or just looking for your next go-to coffee spot, downtown Boulder has something for every kind of morning. If you would like to explore some more options, our Coffee Trails page has everything you could ask for.
Your next favorite cup might be closer than you think.
Until next time,
Ava
