Time for Downtown Boulder to Show its Colors

Post Date: Tuesday, July 16, 2019

It’s that time of the year, folks… Pearl Street Arts Fest! The vibrant and exciting event starts this Friday, July 19th at 3 pm with a special 14th Street Artists Preview then lasts all weekend. There will be artists from all over the country with artwork ranging from paintings to glass to woodworking and everything in between. Everyone in your group will be stunned by the pieces of artwork that are made by the artists themselves. The weather this weekend will be perfect for this multi-block, outdoor art gallery on the Pearl Street Mall. Also, did I mention that this event is FREE? Why wouldn’t you take advantage of this opportunity to view some magnificent artwork?

If you aren’t able to make it to this spectacular event, there are plenty of other places in downtown Boulder for you to admire terrific artwork, while also supporting local businesses. Downtown Boulder Partnership recently partnered with Open Studios to open Pop! A Local Artists' Gallery. This pop-up gallery is open through the end of August and features a variety of artwork created by local artists. This gallery is open six days a week, making it possible for you to view artwork almost anytime you want. There is also a very cool mural (the Boulder Bubble) along the west side of the building that is perfect for photos. Be sure to tag us in any of your shots in front of the mural on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook so we can share and retweet. This is a great place for Boulder artists to display their work, so next time you are walking along Pearl St Mall be sure to check out the creative brilliance that Pop! has to offer.

The artistic ability to make beautiful and detailed pieces of jewelry has always amazed me. A great shop in the downtown district that offers outstanding rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc. is Adorned. This West End business is owned and run by women, and features jewelry and handcrafted gifts made by local female artists. Can you say girl power?

I hope at this point in the blog you are starting to feel inspired to create. Color Me Mine Boulder on the East End is a great spot to go to satisfy your artistic craving. Spend the afternoon painting a ceramic piece, have the shop glaze and fire it, then return within a week to pick up your one-of-a kind piece of art! This a terrific and affordable activity for all ages. Be sure to look into their event calendar, there’s something fun going on everyday!

It is truly incredible what the artistic community is able to make. It is so important to support these individuals. Downtown Boulder would be a lot less colorful and eccentric without them. Cheers to all the artists out there! I will forever be envious and in awe of your skills.

Best,

Intern Sally
