About "Judicious Murder" by Val Bruech:
Defense attorney Susan Marshfield’s life is spent challenging prosecutors, charming juries, and liberating her clients, most of whom are attired in orange jumpsuits. When her former trial partner and mentor, Sam Kendall, now a judge, is bludgeoned to death in his chambers, she catapults into the murder investigation with the same take no prisoners mentality that fuels her courtroom victories. Is the murderer one of the hostile witnesses or bitter prosecutors Sam bested in his long legal career? Why did he launder 150 thousand dollars through a secret account?
About "The Desert Reckoning" by Matthew L. Huffman:
In 1982, join museum acquisitions assistant Susan Kingsley on a journey through the American West as she searches for letters from an 1870 wagon train traveling from Santa Fe, New Mexico through Colorado to the Deseret Territory. William Mitchell, a frontier businessman, is separated from his wife by thousands of miles, but is connected through regular correspondence tinged with a longing and true love. Tasked with recovering the letters, Susan follows clues in the letters to find Tom Sullivan, the new owner of the letters and a distant relative of William Mitchell.
About "The Life of Donovan O'Brien" by Kevin Kelley:
Born in 1949 in New England to a Black Belgian nurse and a white Irish Catholic father, Donovan learns early on what it means to stand between two worlds, never fully belonging to either. Donovan is drafted into the Vietnam War, where his life is forever altered. The battlefield forces him into moments of unimaginable fear and courage, including a near-death experience where he learns the meaning of life. "The Life of Donovan O’Brien" is sweeping coming-of-age historical fiction that follows one man’s journey from childhood in postwar America to war, love, loss, and redemption across decades of transformation.
About "Bending the Blues in Cincinnati" by Andrea Kilmer Mann:
Stan Miller, an oncology nurse by profession and a talented blues musician on the weekends, has spent two decades nursing her own wounds after being abandoned by the love of her life. Her carefully compartmentalized world threatens to unravel when her daughter Claire finds a curious keepsake boxed away. Told with an element of magical realism, "Bending the Blues in Cincinnati" weaves together multiple storylines, including end-of-life compassion, family secrets, forgiveness, second chances, and our search for peace within ourselves.
