At participating businesses throughout downtown Boulder
Each year, the City of Boulder Parks & Recreation department provides free tulip bulbs to the community. This year, the City has teamed up with 15 downtown Boulder businesses to hand out the free bags of bulbs.
Interested residents may visit any one of the participating locations (the list will be posted on August 19th) when they are open to pick-up a free bag of bulbs. A donation to the PLAY Boulder Foundation will be strongly encouraged at pick-up!* Tulip bulbs will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one bag per family. The below locations will be updated as they run out, and businesses will have posters in their windows as well to indicate the availability of the free bulbs.
The City's Parks and Recreation department has been hosting this free event for Boulder community members since 2006 with the goal of sustaining beautiful and unique tulip spring blooms on the Pearl Street Mall while providing an opportunity for interested gardeners to enhance their homes and public spaces through local resources. Parks and Recreation staff changes the variety and color of the tulips planted on the Pearl Street Mall every year to provide a unique and impressive display each spring. After the bloom, staff removes the bulbs to make way for summer plantings, storing them until the annual tulip bulb giveaway each August. Pearl Street Mall tulips are imported directly from Holland from a wholesale provider.
