Students showcase their artistic interpretations of embracing diverse backgrounds on Pearl Street Mall lamp pole banners - on display through the end of April
Boulder, CO [March 19, 2025] – Downtown Boulder is once again bursting with student creativity as the 13th Annual Student Banner Project adorns Pearl Street Mall lamp poles with 42 unique works of art, created by talented artists from Columbine Elementary, Casey Middle School and Boulder High School.
This year’s theme, "Embracing Our Unique Backgrounds Makes the Community Stronger," encouraged students to celebrate diversity and explore how different perspectives and experiences contribute to a more inclusive and connected society.
Produced by Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives (DBCI), presented by Boulder Arts Week and sponsored by ANB Bank and Digital Frontier, this project continues to offer young artists a platform for self-expression while fostering community dialogue through art.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a reception was held on the Pearl Street Mall to recognize students from each school in the categories of “Most Artistic”, “Most Thematic” and “Panelists Choice (Just Because We Love It). The banners were scored by a panel of judges from the City of Boulder Community Vitality Department. Winners are as follows:
