Clean Your Dirty Face

Valerie Rome spent 25 years in corporate marketing and analytics working with consumer product goods companies. When COVID-19 hit, she was given a much-needed moment to pause and reflect. Valerie realized her true passion was for community-building, and in a time when many have been struggling physically and emotionally, she felt drawn to the self-care industry.

“My niece, who worked as an esthetician in Chicago, told me about the Clean Your Dirty Face (CYDF) brand. I connected with the founder, and everything about the organization resonated with me. First, all CYDF products are all-natural and free of toxins. I am passionate about how important what we put on, and in our bodies, is for our overall health. Also, I’ve been drawn to supporting young people professionally, to empower and build a team of estheticians to grow in their careers. Finally, I like being in the business of making people feel good about themselves through routine skincare.”

When the opportunity presented itself to become the owner of CYDF in Boulder, Valerie knew it would be a perfect fit. “I’ve led large teams of people in the past, so I felt up for the challenge of ownership. As the owner, I am striving to create a caring environment and cultivate a sense of community both inside and outside the studio. I’m incredibly excited to take this new journey.”

Initially raised in Washington D.C., Valerie’s professional career took her to Chicago and San Francisco. However, she made a conscious choice to move to Colorado in 2003. “It was a quality-of-life decision and I’m so glad I did! Raising my three sons here, we’ve enjoyed skiing and exploring the outdoors but I also really value the atmosphere in Boulder. Everyone is friendly and connected, and the pace of life is a perfect balance of busy but recreational. The local flavor of the city – from restaurants to shops – makes it so special.”

As a downtown business owner, Valerie has quickly come to understand the significance of a strong community. “I have been going door-to-door talking with neighboring businesses, and the sense of connectedness is exceptional. Downtown Boulder is a such a wonderfully unique place.”
