Exploring Coffee Shops Downtown!

Hey Boulder!

One of my favorite things about living in Boulder and working downtown is the sheer number of coffee shops! There are endless options to have the best coffee shop experience, whether I am catching up with a friend or sitting down to study for an hour or two. Between interning with Downtown Boulder this summer and being a CU student, I have made it to every spot to grab a warm (and sometimes cold)  beverage downtown, and here are my favorite things about each one!

You’ve probably been inside Terracotta to find your next favorite plant, but have you noticed the bright, sun-filled coffee corner? In front of their live plant wall, a few tables are sprinkled next to a coffee bar with tea and coffee options. Next time you need a new place to explore, stop here to gaze at beautiful plants while you sip on one of their refreshing beverages!

Just up the street from Terracotta you will find Boxcar Coffee Roasters with a roastery and training lab, bustling café and bakery, complete with aesthetic interior seating. Sharing their space with Dedalus Wine Shop & Market, find your next favorite wine and cheese pairing after admiring your latte art. Boxcar is certainly a highlight of the East End and is one of my go-tos for meeting up with friends to catch up and hang out!

Continue your walk down Pearl Street to find one of my favorite study or work from “home” spots, The Laughing Goat Coffeehouse! The warm and inviting atmosphere will draw you in and you won’t want to leave. With incredible espresso and tea beverages as well as live poetry readings and events, this is a favorite spot for me and my fellow CU students. The cozy environment as well as plentiful indoor and outdoor seating makes The Laughing Goat an essential stop.

You’ve probably heard of Ozo Coffee, with locations on the West End and East End it’s hard to miss! Out of their endless beverage and pastry options, my go-to at Ozo is one of the several on-tap beverages offered (including nitro, kombucha and sparkling matte). I love the plentiful seating and cozy atmosphere of the West End location and the bright and cheery open patio on the East End.

If you’re looking for a classic downtown spot, Brewing Market has been roasting coffee in Boulder since 1977! In their comforting and historic building just off Pearl Street, grab a drink from the conversational employees or explore their tea emporium. Feeling efficient? Nearby you can find Capital One Café. Get your banking done and your caffeine fix at the same time with this reimagined banking experience complete with friendly staff, Peet’s Coffee and a bright, airy environment.

Equipped with a modern industrial space, Amante Coffee brings a northern Italian coffee experience to Boulder. The high ceilings and wall of windows creates the perfect environment for a coffee date. Their wine and beer offerings also make it possible to meet up with friends for a fun wine night or to watch whatever sports game they may have on.

Now we’ve come to one of my favorite places in Boulder, Trident Coffee and Booksellers. This is my ideal study environment as the cozy, vintage interior and spacious, private patio provide an eclectic and relaxing ambiance. I love the events here as well as roaming the bookstore, where you can find your next favorite novel, vinyl record or book of poetry. Complete with tea,  espresso drinks, on tap kombucha and pastry options, Trident is one of my Boulder staples.

Next time you’re walking to Pearl Street, stop at Astro Coffee Bar. With incredibly unique signature drinks and  smooth nitro cold brew, you can’t go wrong making this spot your first stop of the day. Astro’s non-coffee drinks are a highlight for me as they have incredible smoothies, energy drinks, Italian sodas and so much more.

Last but certainly not least, Lost City Coffee inside of Avanti is a must for creamy matcha lattes and sweet treats. Not only are incredible coffee options sold here, but they also have house-made desserts and scoop Little Man Ice Cream. One of the best parts of this location is that you can enjoy your beverage or dessert on Avanti’s rooftop, one of my favorite places in Boulder with incredible views of the Flatirons.

With each unique coffee location in Boulder, you are sure to find quality coffee and unbeatable vibes. All of your ideal coffee shop needs can be found around downtown Boulder. And that’s not all - if you are more of a tea person, try Old Barrel Tea Company, Ku Chua House of Tea or the Boulder Dushanbe Tea House. Into juices or smoothies along with classic coffee choices? Stop by Whole Sol or Wonder! Your beverage needs have been met. I can’t wait for you to get out downtown and find your favorite coffee shop!

See you around,

Alexandra
