Galentine's Day: A Day for the Ladies

Happy Valentine’s Day, Downtown!

Even though I’m a single bean, I love Valentine’s Day! But more importantly, I love Galentine’s Day where ladies celebrate ladies. Leslie Knope of the show Parks and Rec defines Galentine’s Day as a day to celebrate your lady friends and that it should be a national holiday. I could not agree more. On the show, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th, but I will be celebrating with my gal pals, downtown of course, on Saturday the 15th.

First things first, I picked up some small gifts to show some appreciation for my friends on this magical day. I stopped in at MomentuM on the East End to get some adorable fair trade cards that I knew my girls would love along with Downtown Boulder gift cards, issued by Metabank® member FDIC.

For the day of Galentine’s we’ll leave the boys at home and start our morning off with a delicious brunch at Eureka! where we will share mimosa flights and yummy food. Next, we will do some walking around and shopping on the Pearl Street Mall and see if we can find some good post Valentine’s Day deals. I will definitely be on the lookout for all the leftover Valentine’s chocolates I can find (think Kilwins, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and Piece, Love & Chocolate). Around 1 pm, we will check out the tea tastings at Ku Cha House of Tea where there will be special tastings in Chinese Gongfu-style. After this, the plan is to stop by Color Me Mine to paint some ceramics to commemorate our final Galentine’s Day together in Boulder. Eventually, we will end up at Mountain Sun for dinner and some of the amazing stout beers they have on tap for Stout Month (aka the best month of the year). We will end our night at Hotel Boulderado’s License No. 1 to enjoy the Banshee Tree concert starting at 9 pm.

I am so excited to spend the day at my favorite places downtown with my favorite ladies! I recommend everyone do something special with their favorite gal pals too because there is nothing better than ladies celebrating ladies!

Until next time,

Intern Keighlee
