This exploratory painting class is about trying new tools - window squeegees, spackle scrapers, putty and pallet knives to create intuitive abstract works on canvas. Sorry, paintbrushes, you’re not invited this time. We’ll spend a couple of hours experimenting with tools and paint consistency on smaller canvases which will lead up to creating a final, larger “masterpiece” painting.

About the Instructor:

Sarah Kinn was born in Ohio and has lived in Boulder, Colorado for 19 years. She is an abstract painter with an acute sense of color. She employs vibrant, bold colors inspired by Ikat fabric and women’s saris from India. Her compositions are loosely influenced by Colorado’s landscapes.

She has exhibited her work in many Boulder galleries, the Longmont Firehouse Gallery, aBuzz Gallery in Denver, and recently had a piece in the Denver Art Museum inspired by a textile exhibit. Her artwork has been purchased by many private collectors throughout Colorado and is in several public collections including Children’s Hospital and Keys Commercial. She is a self-taught painter who has a degree in Art History from Miami University.
