About the Artist:
Rachel Thurber is a textile artist who uses weaving and dyeing to foster a sense of oneness with the environment. Her work explores the intricacies of the relationship between humans and nature on an individual and societal basis. Initially inspired by the desert landscapes of Arizona, she weaves color, pattern, and texture into abstract depictions of larger-than-life settings. Through her work she seeks to cultivate in her audience a deeper awareness of their place in the natural world.
