Get Ready For a Busy Halloweekend

Hey downtown,
Halloween is just around the corner, and downtown Boulder is getting ready for a big weekend! With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, next weekend brings a CU home game, the Golden Buffalo Marching Band and plenty of little trick-or-treaters. Here’s what to add to your calendar and how to get ready this week.
Start with the costume. Still putting together your Halloween look? Try vintage shopping at Apocalypse or Heady Bauer, two of my personal favorites. I also hear that The Ritz has an amazing costume selection. Downtown’s shops are full of unique finds, making it easy to put together a one-of-a-kind costume. Friday, Oct. 30: Pearl Street Stampede
The night before every CU home game, the Pearl Street Stampede brings members of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band, the Spirit Squad, Chip the Buffalo, and members of CU athletic teams to the 1300 block of Pearl Street for a “pep rally” celebration that travels east with performances on each block of the Mall. The fun kicks off at 7 p.m., and with Halloween weekend in full swing, it’s the perfect excuse to break out your best black and gold. Sko Buffs! Check our Pearl Street Stampedes page for the latest details.
Make a night of it by grabbing dinner or a drink beforehand. Our happy hour guide is a great place to find local specials. Driving downtown? City-owned parking garages offer $3 parking from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Visit BoulderParking.com for details.
Saturday, Oct. 31: Munchkin Masquerade
From 3 to 6 p.m., children 12 and under can dress up in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat along Pearl Street during Munchkin Masquerade. Downtown businesses are signing up as Treat Stops (generously providing treats for guests), with participating spots ranging from restaurants like Foolish Craig’s, Centro and T/ACO to shops like Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Savannah Bee Company and Boulder Bookstore. Treats are free at participating businesses!
Even if you’re not trick-or-treating, take a stroll down the bricks to see all the creative costumes. Check the Munchkin Masquerade page for the full list of participating businesses.
And if that wasn’t enough, CU takes on Kansas State that afternoon, so expect a lively day downtown!
However you celebrate, I hope you’ll make time to explore Downtown Boulder this Halloween weekend. Happy early Halloween!
Best,
Intern Bella
