SmithKlein Gallery

Both Ann Klein and her husband, Nathan, were born and raised in Boulder and first met as kids at Columbine Elementary School. Their connection to the community runs deep. Their daughters and employees were also born and raised in Boulder, making SmithKlein Gallery a truly multigenerational, hometown business.
SmithKlein Gallery was founded in 1984 by Nathan’s mother, Debbie Smith-Klein. At the time, Nathan was just four years old, but the gallery would become a constant presence throughout their lives. Nathan grew up immersed in the business, while Ann worked at the gallery during her college years. In 2014, they made the decision to sell their home in Boulder to purchase the gallery from Debbie, ensuring that the family legacy would continue downtown.
Boulder and Pearl Street have always been home to SmithKlein Gallery. For Ann and Nathan, the gallery is about much more than art on the walls. It is about representing artists thoughtfully and building meaningful relationships with the people who walk through the door. Over the past 42 years, the gallery has become a place rooted in trust, connection, and a shared love for creativity.
Inspiration comes from many places at SmithKlein Gallery, including one of a kind artwork, cultural experiences, kindness, generosity, and human connection. Ann believes in finding the positive in everyday life and spreading that positivity through simple moments, whether it is a smile, a conversation, or creating an authentic experience for each client.
After more than four decades in business, connection remains at the heart of everything they do. The team loves meeting locals as well as the many visitors Boulder welcomes each year. Supporting the local community and the small business owners who help keep Boulder unique and strong is deeply important to them.
SmithKlein Gallery proudly represents artists who are local, national, and international. Whether someone is a first time art buyer or a seasoned collector, the gallery offers unique and special pieces that reflect a wide range of styles and perspectives. Ann and her team are dedicated to helping each person find artwork they truly connect with.
Ann encourages everyone to support their local community and small businesses. A follow on Instagram (@smithklein), or visit to SmithKlein Gallery is an invitation to experience art, connection, and a longstanding Downtown Boulder institution.
