All Work, All Play in Downtown Boulder

Downtown Boulder would not be the wonderful place it is without the support of the many hardworking and friendly employees that make up the local business scene. Employees seem determined to make each visitors’ time in the district the best it can be. The workforce is a close and supportive community, creating a welcoming environment for those who work and those who play downtown. Each block of downtown Boulder is unique, causing each employee to have a different perspective on what it is like to work downtown.

My summer internship with the Downtown Boulder Partnership allows me to work with and learn about all the different businesses that make up downtown Boulder- which is 80%+ locally owned and operated! Whenever I come into work, I browse the shopping, dining, and services listings on our website to expand my familiarity with the area. I must admit, I have to practice strong self control working so close to Free People, Weekends, and Patagonia. I love spending my Mondays and Tuesdays in the heart of Boulder. There is such a positive and exuberant energy that surrounds downtown, it makes me never want to go home!

I spoke with my good friend, Mia who works at Savvy on Pearl to hear her thoughts on working in downtown Boulder. Savvy on Pearl is located right on the Pearl Street Mall, and there is always something going on right outside the store’s doors. Mia loves the energy and excitement that surrounds Savvy. She also enjoys the luxury of being able to visit a variety of different shops and restaurants while on her breaks. Mia’s favorite thing about working in downtown Boulder is the diversity. She says that she meets interesting customers from all over the world on a daily basis. Downtown Boulder is a great local spot, but it also appeals to people from different states and countries.

To show our gratitude, downtown Boulder employees are invited to participate in Downtown Boulder’s 8th Annual Employee Appreciation Day on Wednesday, June 5th. There will be fun activities all day, including yoga classes, relay races, and happy hour. The East End 3k will be happening at 6:00 pm, and downtown Boulder employees are able to get a 50% off discount to participate in the race (Email Anna for a special code). To finish the day, downtown Boulder employees are welcomed to the Bands on the Bricks kickoff to enjoy live music and drinks.  Employees can also enjoy exclusive lunch and retail deals. We cherish you, downtown Boulder employees. Keep up the great work!
