See ya later, downtown

Category: Boulder Blog

Hi, or should I say ‘see ya later’, downtown,

As summer winds down, so does my time as the Downtown Boulder Partnership’s summer intern. What a summer it has been—full of exploring downtown, discovering the incredible local businesses, experiencing the events that make this place so special, and working with the most passionate group of people that make it all happen behind the scenes. I feel so fortunate to have spent my summer in an internship that I truly woke up excited for each day. Saying goodbye will be bittersweet.

Some of my favorite moments included wandering through the Wednesday Farmers Market, creating social media content, volunteering for the Pearl Street Arts Fest, and writing the weekly blogs (with the chai review being a clear highlight). With all I’ve learned about downtown Boulder, I’m heading into my final year at CU eager to share my “insider” knowledge with friends and family (I’ve already told my friends where we must go for happy hours). My list of restaurants to try and events to attend has grown, and so has my love for downtown Boulder.

One of the best parts of this internship was meeting local shop owners and hearing their stories. While creating a reel for Instagram, I stopped into a pop-up shop called Kuvetta, which sells women’s athletic clothing. I struck up a conversation with the founder, a retired college athlete who created the brand to focus on both style and functionality for active women. I left with a new top I absolutely love—and every intention of shopping there again. On my chai journey, I also had the chance to visit Angie Star Jewelry, where I learned more about their local family-owned business and their beautifully designed jewelry. Encounters like these reminded me how much passion and creativity lives right here in downtown Boulder.

I also want to give a special thank you to the Downtown Boulder Partnership team. From my very first day, everyone has made me feel welcomed, supported, and part of the team. Whether we were brainstorming ideas or just sharing laughs in the office or at lunch, your kindness and guidance have made this experience unforgettable. I’m grateful for all I’ve learned and will carry those lessons and memories far beyond Pearl Street.

While I am sad this internship is coming to an end, I still have a whole school year left at CU, so I won’t be far. I’ll see you around downtown.

Sincerely,
Wylie
