The streets of Downtown Boulder decorated with holiday lights

Post Date: December 8, 2022

Hey Downtown,

The holiday season is well underway in Boulder! From a stunning display of lights at Switch on the Holidays to beautifully decorated floats during the Lights of December Parade, hopefully you have been (or will be) able to soak up all the magic in downtown this time of year. There are still plenty of ways to Light Up the Holidays in December with St. Nick on the Bricks, Freezie Fest, Snow Much Fun Virtual (AR) Experiences and the first ever Ugly Sweater Bar Tour. I know I will definitely be throwing on my ugliest sweater and enjoying festive drink specials at participating downtown bars on December 16!

While there is lots of cheer going around right now, if you’re anything like me, gift giving during the holidays might be a daunting task. When you really care about someone, how do you ensure they receive a gift that is just as great as they are? Thankfully, when you shop in downtown Boulder you know you’ll find unique gifting options at our over 80% locally owned/operated retailers. Here are three tips to ensure holiday shopping success!

1.  Use the 2022 Downtown Boulder Holiday Gift Guide.

Looking for a place to start? Check out the Holiday Gift Guide, filled with fun and easy gifting ideas from downtown retailers. With everything from fuzzy socks at Art Mart to one-of-a-kind jewelry at Classic Facets, you are guaranteed to find something special for your someone special in this guide. Spark your imagination for creating a gift package with items like a holiday puzzle from Liberty Puzzles, handcrafted bath and body products from Rebecca’s Herbal Apothecary and gemstone coasters from Crystal Joys. Plus, feel good about your purchases knowing you are supporting local businesses…that’s a big reason to shop small!

2. Explore shopping specials and listings.

If you’re a bit of a bargain hunter, don’t forget to check out December shopping specials at downtown businesses. Participate in Barbara & Company’s annual Share & Wear event (December 6 - 14) by donating $20 in cash to benefit local nonprofits and receive 20% off two items of your choice. Enjoy huge savings when shopping summer selections at Kama Connection, or browse Ramble on Pearl one final time during their store closing sale.

Need a little more inspiration? Check out all available retail options by scanning downtown shopping listings. With the ability to filter by category, you can easily find just the store you are looking for this season!

3. Give the gift of a Downtown Boulder Gift Card.

If you are still searching for that perfect gift and just can’t seem to find it, a Downtown Boulder Gift Card is a great option. Valid at over 100 downtown businesses, this gift comes in a one size fits all package. Whether your loved one is a major foodie looking to try some new restaurants or a fashionista ready for a wardrobe update, a downtown gift card offers flexibility and customization. Order online today or stop by the Visitor Information Center from 12 - 4 pm any day from now through the end of December to purchase in person.

Gift giving can sometimes put added pressure on the holiday season. Hopefully these three shopping tips reduce your stress and help you discover easy ways to find exceptional gifts this year!

Happy Holidays,
