Pearl Street Mall 50th Anniversary Logo (Horizontal in Color)

50 Years On Pearl

Dedicated August 6, 1977, the Pearl Street Mall has been the heartbeat of downtown Boulder for five decades. . . a place where community, creativity, and local spirit come together. What began as a bold experiment in pedestrian-focused placemaking has become one of Colorado’s most beloved gathering spaces.

Starting today and all of 2026, the City of Boulder and Downtown Boulder Partnership will work closely with community partners, businesses, and residents to plan events, installations, and activations honoring this extraordinary milestone.

Please bookmark this page and check back often. Sponsorship information and other ways to get involved will be posted in the near future. Exciting things are coming soon!

As the Mall approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027, the commemorative logo pays homage to the businesses that have shaped its character over its five decades of bringing people together. The design draws inspiration from the typography of the signs of 10 iconic Pearl Street establishments, including:

  • Fast Eddie’s
  • Sundown Saloon
  • University Bicycles
  • Tom’s Tavern
  • The Little Jewel
  • Lindsay's Boulder Deli at Häagen-Dazs
  • West End Tavern
  • Hurdle’s Jewelry
  • Boulder Bookstore
  • Boulder Theater
