Hey Downtown!

Hello,

My name is Jacob and I am Downtown Boulder’s summer intern. Boulder is a special city loaded with a variety of outdoor activities and scenery, no matter where you are or what time of year it is. When it came time to decide where to attend school, choosing the University of Colorado was a no-brainer. I will be starting my junior year this fall, where I am majoring in public relations with minors in history and business.

I am from a small suburb north of Chicago, where I grew accustomed to spending all my time inside from November through April. Throughout my childhood, my family and I traveled to Colorado in the summer and the winter to enjoy the mountains by hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, or simply reading a book while soaking up some sun. Consequently, I quickly became interested and passionate about spending time outdoors, specifically in Colorado. To me, having access to a variety of outdoor interests at any time of the year makes Boulder such a unique and incredible place.

I will never forget the first time I came to Boulder to visit CU. Coming in, I knew that Boulder was a beautiful place to participate in my outdoor passions. After finishing my campus tour, my mom and I headed to Pearl Street to have lunch at Pasta Jay's I was immediately blown away by the number of stores, restaurants and other businesses that all contribute to Boulder’s vibrant downtown scene. While walking up and down Pearl Street that day, I knew that Boulder was the perfect place for me to attend college and the ideal place for anyone to live! Since then, I have expanded my repertoire of restaurants in the downtown district, but I have only scratched the surface of the fantastic opportunities that downtown has to offer. I am eager to make connections and memories this summer by being introduced to the range of local businesses that play a vital role in making Boulder such an amazing place to live. My list of must-try places include: Centro Mexican Kitchen, Boulder Baked, The Post and many more.

There are still plenty of fun and safe opportunities to be had this summer, despite the pandemic. I will provide weekly updates on the many experiences I will have throughout the summer and I’m looking forward to bringing you all along on my journey.

See you soon,

Jacob
