Hi there,
My name is Sierra and I am Downtown Boulder’s summer intern! I will be a senior at CU Boulder this fall, and I can’t imagine a better place to be interning during one of my last summers in Boulder. I’m studying Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Sociology.
Before moving to Boulder, I lived in Austin, Texas my entire life. While nothing beats a day on the lake or Austin’s famous Tex-Mex cuisine, I was ready to move to a place that actually experiences all four seasons (Texas heat is no laughing matter). Although it took me awhile to adjust to the snow, I am so glad I took the leap and am proud to call both Boulder and Austin my home!
As I approach my last year at CU, there are a few key spots in Boulder that have earned my approval. The bolognese and bacon-wrapped dates at The Med are to die for, and picnicking at the base of Chautauqua is one of my favorite spring and summertime activities. If I’m ever searching for a gift or simply want to browse around, Bliss and Elison Rd. are always my go-to shops.
Even though COVID-19 has switched things up tremendously, I’m still super excited to explore downtown Boulder and do my part to support local businesses. There is still so much I haven’t seen, and I’m determined to tick some restaurants and stores off my bucket list even if it means ordering takeout or wearing a mask. I hope by documenting my experience, I can give you all the inside scoop on how to enjoy downtown Boulder to the fullest during this unprecedented time.
Until next time,
Intern Sierra
