These little books “explode” into a series of square and triangular patterns when you open them, packing an unexpected punch. They’re delightful little surprises! The techniques for the three books are similar and build on themselves. How nice when one technique leads to such diverse and impressive results. Local bookbinder Kristen Lewis will get you started with the basic explosion fold for the first book, then work in tandem with you as you create the squash book and the star book.
As you play with the geometry of paper, follow her lead and enjoy the relaxing, meditative exercise of folding pre-cut papers for your books. The class is a lovely way to tap into a community space and create together. At the end you’ll have an arsenal of new skills to add to your creative toolbox, plus information to inspire other projects. Use those skills to turn your stash of small papers into mini scrapbooks, albums, ornaments, cards – almost anything!
This online class will be recorded and made available to class participants for 10 days after the class.
