There’s certainly a lot packed into a few hours in this new class with local book artist Kristen Lewis! She’s created notebooks in two sizes with two different bindings, plus added a lesson in making bookcloth from fabric. These pocket notebooks make super great gifts, especially with a mini pen, and are easy to carry everywhere. In addition, they’re sturdy enough to take a lot of wear and tear. The techniques are simple, versatile, and a useful addition to your tool kit. The class consists mostly of hands-on work, but Kristen also shows a number of variations to inspire you in adapting her project and making it your own.
So that class time can be devoted to assembling and stitching the notebooks, Kristen provides a detailed video on how to make the bookcloth ahead of time. Use either the supplies in your kit or (what fun!) a favorite fabric you have at home. Making the bookcloth and your covers takes about an hour. Have them ready for class and come prepared to fold, punch, and stitch your notebooks together. These little notebooks are a wonderful – and useful – way to combine your love of fabric with paper!
This online class will be recorded and made available to class participants for 10 days after the class.
