Details
Rett Ertl - Board President, Boulder-Dushanbe Sister Cities will be giving an introduction to Maruf Mirakhmatov. Maruf is the grandson of the man who led the Tajiks in the building of the Teahouse. Perhaps more importantly, Maruf came to Boulder in 2018-19 to refurbish the outside of the north wall of the Teahouse, after his father refurbished the west and south walls. While he was here, Maruf led a very successful course on “Renovating the Boulder-Dushanbe Teahouse” with Prof. Roudbari. Maruf will describe the process that he followed to renew the paint and, if it is feasible, may even demonstrate some of the designs that he made. He will also give a brief history of the Teahouse, especially his grandfather’s role in the creation of the building.
Maruf Mirakhmatov will be speaking on The Art of the Boulder-Dushanbe Teahouse. He will be speaking in Tajik, with translation by Shawhin Roudbari, an assistant professor in the Program of Environmental Design at the University of Colorado. Prof. Roudbari may add some of his own comments to the talk.
After the program has finished you can mingle with Maruf & Rhett. Light refreshments and appetizers will be provided.
