July 20 & 21, over 100 artists display their work along the Pearl Street Mall
Boulder, Colorado [July 10, 2013] – For the third year, OpenArts & Downtown Boulder, Inc. (DBI) will host Boulder’s premier summer juried arts festival July 20 & 21, 2013 on the renowned Pearl Street Mall. Over 100 fine artists from across the country along with top local talent were selected for this year’s event - ensuring a wide variety of quality, original artwork with prices set to satisfy seasoned collectors to enthusiastic newcomers. This year’s commemorative poster is a piece from artist Stanislav Sidorov titled, Night of Music, Pearl Street, Boulder. Limited edition signed giclee prints will be available at Art Source International (1227 Pearl Street).
Open Arts Fest is a reimaging of DBI’s Art Fair – a summer tradition for over 30 years. “Open Arts Fest is designed to be a smaller, more intimate event than some of the other arts festivals around the state,” said Anna Salim, Open Arts Fest Co-Director. “The Pearl Street Mall will be transformed into an open air art gallery filled with seasoned artisans as well as emerging artists and craftsmen.” From large dramatic pieces to small delicate works, the featured artists are highly regarded in the fields of sculpture (metal & recycled materials); handcrafted wood & furniture; painting (acrylic, oil & watercolors); ceramics; jewelry; photography; glass (styles from abstract to Impressionistic, functional and decorative) and more.
In addition to artisan booths, Clementine Studio will host a kids' art activity tent and Frequent Flyers will entertain audiences with aerial dance performances and even give the public a chance to fly as well. There will also be a silent auction benefiting the Gary Zeff Fund for Arts Education, which provides opportunities for local children to attend Clementine Studio’s art classes, as well as EdLinks – a program that places professional artists in public school classrooms.
Admission to the festival itself is free. Every Saturday and Sunday (year round) city of Boulder parking garages are free. For a list of the garage locations, visit www.BoulderParking.com. Open Arts Fest is sponsored by Toyota, city of Boulder Parking Services, Daily Camera, 5280 Magazine & 9News. The event is supported by Eco-Products, 3 Leaf Concepts, Hotel Boulderado, Securitas and Eldorado Natural Springs Water.

About OpenArts
In 1995, founder and former executive director (now retired) Gary Zeff had an idea to start a local non-profit visual arts organization that would allow the public to meet and see artists in their own studios. His passion, which remains with OpenArts today, is to educate the public about the importance of arts and arts education in our increasingly technical, impersonal world. OpenArts mission is to provide an educational opportunity for the community to gain a broader understanding and appreciation of the visual arts through the personal experience of meeting artists in their private studios and other forums.
