Downtown Boulder Launches Mobile Web Site to Attract Visitors and Locals to the Heart of the City Mobile ‘smartphone’ users now have access to find businesses, events and information happening throughout Downtown Boulder right from their hand held device
Boulder, Colo. (January 5, 2010): Today, the Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District (https://boulderdowntown.com) formally launches the compatible mobile version of the Web site at http://m.boulderdowntown.com. The mobile site can be accessed on not only Blackberrys and iPhones but virtually any web-enabled cell phone, smartphone or other mobile Internet device.
With the launch of Downtown Boulder’s mobile-optimized version of the Web site, mobile visitors can quickly and easily search for events and business listings, as well as maps and directions through this location-based site. Mobile users tend to be action oriented (“I’m looking for XYZ right now”) and their queries often contain a strong geographic context (“How do I get to XYZ from where I’m at?”) Downtown Boulder's mobile Web application will automatically locate users on iPhones, current Blackberry, Android and other GPS based smartphones. Other mobile users can set their location by selecting a nearby business or street intersection.
"In the past year, we have embraced social media and seen how it can enhance our overall marketing and public relations efforts,” said Terri Takata-Smith, Director of Marketing for Downtown Boulder. “Looking ahead to the immediate future, we see the opportunity to engage a growing segment of the population through our mobile site. Visitors to Downtown Boulder want information right at their fingertips. We felt it was important to develop and provide an efficient, effective and friendly mobile browsing experience for these users."

About Downtown Boulder The Downtown Boulder Business Improvement District (BID) is a 49-block
neighborhood where property owners tax themselves to make their community cleaner, safer and more vibrant. The tax is used by the BID to purchase services that supplement those provided by the city and provide a comprehensive consumer marketing program. Through the BID, local businesses band together to take community responsibility and carefully planned growth to a new level.
Working with the City of Boulder and our non profit partner, Downtown Boulder, Incorporated, the Downtown Boulder BID is leading a new spirit of cooperation among property owners, businesses and the community by providing a range of enhanced management programs including maintenance, marketing, economic vitality and physical improvements. These program areas of the Downtown Boulder BID are designed to retain, expand and attract businesses and investment to improve the downtown environment. The result is the establishment of Downtown Boulder as the premier business, cultural and entertainment destination in the Colorado Front Range. The Downtown Boulder BID is working to create one of the great downtowns of the world.
