Catch Ya Around, Downtown!

Category: Boulder Blog

Dear Downtown,

My time as the Marketing and Communications Intern at Downtown Boulder Partnership may be coming to  an end, but my journey with the downtown community is far from over. This spring has been a kaleidoscope of unique experiences, a treasure trove of learning opportunities and a web of new connections with vibrant downtown businesses. From crafting delightful weekly blogs to the fun and bustling business of marketing, every moment has been a testament to the inspiring spirit of downtown.

Reflecting on my growth with DBP, I notice how much I have learned about downtown Boulder itself. Before starting this internship, I spent most of my time as a busy student doing homework, building the CU gymnastics club or adventuring outdoors. This internship has encouraged me to spend more time downtown, meet business owners, and connect with members of the community. I also had the opportunity to check out many retailers, restaurants and cafes!

As I transition from a Californian to a Coloradan, I have been lucky to wander downtown from both a visitor and local perspective. I have stayed many nights with family at the elegant Hotel Boulderado, often followed by a trip to one of the downtown cafes in the morning, especially one of my new favorites: Bitty & Beau’s. As I continue to welcome my friends and family into the community, I will show them to Elison Road for the cutest outfits, Jones & CO for adorable gifts and of course, Apocalypse for the best thrifts!

I am also beyond excited to experience my first summer downtown with Bands on the Bricks, Boulder County Farmers Markets and even some trip planning at Capital One Café with my go-to matcha order.

My heart is filled with gratitude for the Downtown Boulder Partnership, not just for the opportunities they provided, but for the kindness and dedication they extended to me. Their leadership has been a guiding light, illuminating the path of community engagement and local involvement. I am particularly in awe of the DBP staff, their work ethic, their communication skills and the incredible projects they spearhead all year. It's been an honor to be a part of this team and I am so happy with the relationships I have created.

I will forever appreciate the downtown community for adding another page to my personal story of Dr. Suess’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” book! I especially appreciate Kate Hernandez, DBP's Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Terri Takata-Smith, DBP's VP of Marketing and Communications for their hard work in helping, training and guiding me through this outstanding internship!

Catch you around, downtown!

Katie
