Hello Downtown Boulder! I’m Keighlee (it’s pronounced Kee-Lee, I know, my parents are creative) and I am super excited to be Downtown Boulder’s spring intern. I am a senior at CU graduating this coming May and I have to say, this is the best place I could imagine spending my last semester in Boulder. I am earning two degrees, one in strategic communications with an emphasis in public relations and the other in media production.
Before moving to Boulder over three years ago, I lived in a small and rural community in the Willamette Valley region of Oregon. Before you ask, yes, it does rain all the time and yes, hearing that Boulder gets about 300 days of sun a year did influence my decision to move here. As much as I love Oregon and my small town upbringing, I knew I wanted to be somewhere bigger, with more opportunities but also somewhere that had similar values to the place that I had grown up. Boulder easily made it to the top of the list with all the outdoor activities to try, the beautiful view (I haven’t met anyone the flatties haven’t impressed) and all the wonderful places to explore!
Living in Boulder has been one of the best decisions I’ve made so far in my life. In one weekend I can take a hike of any intensity with my dog, hang out by the creek, grab a bite to eat and engage in a little retail therapy downtown when midterm season strikes. There is a good chance that you can catch me at Mountain Sun on any given night enjoying a burger and a beer or at Laughing Goat on the weekends doing school work with a cup of coffee in hand. Not to mention the Boulder Farmers Market… I’m counting down the days until I can stroll through the market to find what Boulder locals have to offer again!
I can’t wait to spend so much time in downtown during my last semester, exploring parts of the district I haven’t had the chance to see and learn new things about some of my long-time stomping grounds. It’ll be quite the adventure for me, and the best part is that I get to share it all with you!
I have a lot to do and see, but you will hear from me again soon!
Best,
Intern Keighlee
