Sally’s Going to the Seashore to Get Some Seashells

This weekend I am traveling to Holden Beach, North Carolina for a week long vacation, and while I am truly devastated to be away from downtown Boulder for seven long days, I am really excited to lay on the warm sand and swim in the ocean. As you probably know, the beach is very different from our downtown district and I have a lot of beach necessities I have to pick up before I leave. Luckily for me, all the items I need for the beach can be found within downtown Boulder!

I struggle with somewhat of a shopping addiction. I have way too many clothes, but every time I go on a trip, I feel the need to get a new outfit. One of my favorite stores downtown is Elison Rd.. The shop is full of cute, beachy clothes, shoes, and jewelry perfect for my trip. Since I’m going to the beach, I obviously need a swimsuit. The Atlantic Ocean can be pretty rough, so I want something that can withstand the mighty waves. The swimsuits at Billabong are made for beach-fanatics, meaning they are high quality AND stylish! To protect my feet from the scorching hot sand, I need a pair of sandals from Shoe Fly. This West End shop offers countless options of shoes, so I’m likely to leave the store with more than one pair.

The rainy weather Boulder has been experiencing has left me very pale. That being said, I’m very excited about laying out on the beach and getting some sun. I love lying on the sand, but I hating dealing with the mess, so a beach towel is at the top of my list. Lolo Rugs and Gifts has the most adorable and colorful beach towels. All of Lolo Rugs and Gifts’ products are handmade, ensuring good quality and distinctive designs.

My last stop for beach necessities is Lolita's Market & Deli. I mentioned that I want to lay out and get some sun, but I need to be very careful with my fair skin, so getting high SPF sunscreen at Lolita’s Market & Deli is a MUST. While I’m in the market, I might as well grab some snacks and goodies to bring along with me for my flight and drive to the beach. The market is open 24 hours making it super convenient for me, who is bound to remember travel essentials the night before my flight.

Once I obtain all my items and squish them into my suitcase, I’ll be all set to go. I’m sad to be missing all the fun weekly activities there are to do in downtown Boulder, like Bands on the Bricks. I’ll be back in time for Pearl Street Arts Fest and I hope to see a bunch of you there!

Best,

Intern Sally
