We all know that Boulder is a beautiful place, there’s no denying it, but if you look around town you’ll find that there are some ridiculously beautiful people who live here as well. I mean I guess it makes sense with Boulder being one of the healthiest and happiest cities in the United States.
That being said, there’s really nothing better than people watching here in town, especially with the weather warming up. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this subject after a solid four and a half years of observing the people of Boulder in all their glory and let me tell ya, Boulderites are probably the coolest humans in the United States!
It was during my freshman year at CU when I first realized that there were a crazy number of talented and ridiculously in shape individuals in this city. I came to this realization after going to the Laughing Goat Coffeehouse to study, and to this day, it’s still one of my favorite places to just chill out, listen to some awesome local musicians, and just watch the world go by. Another great spot is Wonder where you’re sure to spot at least one Boulder influencer and with the weather warming up, who doesn’t love a yummy smoothie? A slightly more indulgent option, but equally as delicious, would be Gelato Boy! While they do have an outdoor seating area, one of my favorite activities to do on a nice day is to enjoy my sweet treat while walking down Pearl and watching our insanely talented street performers. I still get a kick out of Ibashi-i’s contortionist act, he’s the definition of a local legend.
If you’re new to the whole people watching thing and still feel weird about it, don’t you worry because you can observe while shopping downtown, a perfect way to people watch while not feeling like some sort of stalker. A great place to check out is the Canoe Club, I swear it’s a hub for hot people. The workers even look like they should be modeling for GQ or something it’s insane, no shame in enjoying aesthetically pleasing faces.
If you haven’t dedicated an afternoon to just observing the happenings downtown I highly recommend it. You’ll appreciate the city that much more because of it because you realize just how cool your fellow Boulderites are. We live amongst world-class athletes, intellectual powerhouses, and award-winning sommeliers and if you ask me, that’s a great bunch of people to be associated with.
Sincerely,
Lee
