June 13/14, 10 am - 12:30 pm

Ages 5-10

$175/child, all materials included.

Your child will spend two mornings immersed in art + nature as they experience the magic of creating their own cyanotype art. We will be making sun prints with leaves and other nature items that your child gathers and collects at a nearby park. Your child will get to apply the non-toxic, photo-sensitive emulsion in a dark room, expose their print to the light outside, and then experiment with fun ways to alter their print with eco-friendly and non-toxic substances like coffee, vinegar, salt, soda ash, and dish soap.

Your child will come home with one-of-a-kind art works on paper that will be ready to frame and display proudly.

A little bit about Kristen:

Kristen is an abstract, mixed media artist who has been painting her whole life and professionally for the last 12 years. She has two daughters ages 8 and 5 who have grown up participating in daily studio activities. Kristen has learned through years of practical experience how to invite children into the creative process in a way that leaves room for them to explore and shed the need for everything to turn out “perfect” while also developing an eye for what makes a painting work. She is used to cleaning up messes and embraces them as part of the process.

Kristen currently teaches weekly after-school painting classes here at The New Local!
