Hey downtown!
Did you know every day has its own National Holiday? March is just around the corner and the National Day Calendar is PACKED with unique festivities. Let's turn these celebrations into opportunities to show some Love for the Local. Here are a few fun ideas to make your March more enjoyable and community-focused.
In honor of National Cold Cuts Day on March 3rd, now is the best time to pick up a sandwich from Lindsay’s Boulder Deli or Organic Sandwich Company. Starting on March 5th, a special sandwich competition between the two places begins. Lindsay’s will donate 25% of sales from their special sandwich designed by Gemini to The Museum of Boulder and Organic Sandwich Company will donate 25% of sales from their special sandwich designed by River and Woods to the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF). Take part in this fun and lighthearted competition between some of your favorite local delis!
March 7th is National Flapjacks Day and what better way to start your day at Snooze? Every week they have a new pancake flavor on rotation, keeping things interesting and full of deliciousness. Head over to Snooze on the 7th and enjoy whatever pancake they have for the week and I promise it will be good. Foolish Craig’s is another spot where you can find some flapjacks. Their classic chocolate chip pancakes are the perfect way to celebrate this holiday.
National Dermatologist Day is on March 13th making it the perfect opportunity to treat yourself with a facial from Clean Your Dirty Face. I don’t think I’m alone in feeling that sometimes you need a day off to rest and relax, and one of my favorite ways to do so is heading over for a quick 30-minute facial. Use this day as an excuse to take some time for yourself, you deserve it.
March 13th is also National Jewelry Day… so keep the self-care day going and head over to Angie Star Jewelry after your facial. This is the perfect day to add a new piece of jewelry to your collection. My friend’s birthday is coming up and what a fun gift idea to grab them a new piece of jewelry. Starfish Jewelry and Classic Facets are also worth checking out for gift shopping or finding something new for yourself. You might end up finding your new favorite piece of bling.
Looking for a fun activity with your kids? Celebrate National Children's Craft Day on March 14th at Color Me Mine. What a fantastic place to get creative together. Choose your own pieces and create your own designs, all while soaking up some quality family time. You can even grab a to-go kit if you want to paint at home. Don’t forget to stop by Two Hands Paperie and pick some art supplies to bring home.
National Let’s Laugh Day is March 19th and License No. 1 is guaranteed to make you laugh with their Underground Comedy Showcase happening every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Even though the 19th rolls around on Wednesday, save your laughs for the weekend and grab tickets for the Showcase now.
March 20th is National Ravioli Day and Pasta Jay’s has four different ravioli dishes for you to choose from. Take your pick from their traditional ravioli to their green chili ravioli. Pasta Jay’s and National Ravioli Day seem like the perfect fit. And if ravioli isn’t your thing, their menu is full of other delicious pasta options.
I know what I’ll be doing on March 24th and it’s celebrating National Cocktail Day at Rosetta Hall. Every cocktail ends with a smile. My personal favorite? Their espresso martini - I highly recommend trying. I also love sharing one of My Neighbor Felix’s 56 oz margaritas with my friends - the watermelon flavor is one of our faves!
I hope to see you out and about downtown enjoying these fun days in March. If you want to come up with your own way to celebrate, check out the National Day Calendar for other holidays to celebrate each and every day of March.
See you again soon!
